Footpath around Sugatami-no-ike Pond(Winter)

In the winter, the footpath around Sugatami-no-ike Pond is completely covered by snow, and it is necessary to have knowledge of winter mountain climbing techniques as well as proper equipment, such as snowshoes. During the snow season, visibility can deteriorate easily, but on sunny days, the contrast between the sky and snow creates a beautiful view. During this period, it is also possible to see the fumarole of Mt. Asahidake up close, due to the accumulation of snow. Although it is necessary to be careful about getting too close, the sight of water vapor spouting up from the frozen snow surface with a thundering sound is a breathtaking scene that can be likened to a white dragon looking up to the heavens. Guided tours are also popular in winter.
