Footpath around Sugatami-no-ike Pond(Spring / Summer / Autumn)

After getting off the cable car at Sugatami Station, you will see the expanse of the “flower garden in the sky” blooming profusely with alpine flora. On this course, which is approximately 1.7 km long and takes approximately 1 to 1-and-a-half hours to walk, alpine flora such as kibanashakunage (yellow-flowered rhododendron), chinguruma (Aleutian avens) and miyamarindou (Gentiana nipponica) bloom from June to September, and wild birds such as ginzammashiko (pine grosbeak) and hoshigarasu (spotted nutcracker) can often be seen. From the five viewpoints along the course, you can enjoy majestic views of Mt. Asahidake, as well as of Mt. Tomuraushi and the Tokachi Mountain Range to the south, and even of Asahikawa City to the west. As the hills along this trail are relatively moderate, even inexperienced hikers can enjoy this path with peace of mind.
