Asahidake Onsen Nature Trail

From spring to autumn, visitors can fully enjoy the expansive nature of Mt. Asahidake along the “Asahidake Onsen Nature Trail”. As you can hear from the calls of ezonakiusagi (northern pikas) and wild birds, this path has been selected as one of the “100 Soundscapes of Japan”. In addition to the Komakusa Course (approx. 30 minutes) that stops by the Yukomanbetsu Alpine Botanical Garden, and the Kumagera Course (approx. 30 minutes) and Nanakamado Course (approx. 1 hour), which pass through virgin forests, there are a variety of other courses, such as the Yukomanbetsu Marsh Boardwalk (approx. 30 minutes) where you can enjoy viewing colonies of ezonoryukinka (Caltha palustris) and mizubashou (Asian skunk cabbage) in the spring. hiking equipment is necessary for the Miharashidai Course (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes) and the Marshlands Trail (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes), from which you can get a view of Mt. Asahidake.
